Digital Expanding Sentences by BVG SLP
Teach students to expand sentences and elaborate on spoken and written language with this full-color digital Expanding Sentences resource. Across 80 pages, instruction begins with the difference between sentences and non-sentences, then progresses toward forming more complex expressions. The structured sequence helps learners move from recognizing sentence form to adding meaningful information.
Skills and supports
- Sentence formulation and elaboration
- Longer verbal and written expression
- Five guiding questions to expand responses
- Visual cue slides to support recall
The five guiding questions help students increase the length of their utterances and written sentences. The resource includes a variety of visual cue slides so you and your students can decide which supports are most useful. Visuals can be printed and laminated for students to refer to during practice.
Ways to use the resource
Display the lesson on an interactive whiteboard for whole-group instruction, use it on a tablet in a small group, or share it during speech teletherapy. Students can fill in prompts at the board, or collaborate by responding to different “wh” questions to build a detailed sentence together. Print the visuals for collaborative literacy-center use.
