Another great resource! i LOVE BVG’s sequencing and retell sets, so I’ve been excited to add her other creations to my materials. This resource teaches simple sentences ALL the way to complex sentences. I have used it with 1st grade speech students with the simpler sentences. I’m also using it with my 2-5th graders to introduce inferencing skills and supporting their answer. Learning how to use the words you read to find information is a tough skill that my students struggle with so structured practice materials are so valuable. And my older students don’t feel like they are using materials for younger students. I love that the structure also reminds you to move your students toward independence. ~Roxanne L.

When using the Sequencing and Story Retell Boom Cards, it is easier to keep my students engage because of the bright, colorful pictures. Because the stories are segmented into picture scenes, my students who are easily overwhelmed when they see a lot of words remain actively engaged without frustration. These activities are comprehensive and work well with mixed groups. Even though she doesn’t have designated articulation tasks included, I simply go through the stories and am able to identify words for most of the target sounds needed for my students.
I have been able to use these stories with some of my lower functioning middle and high school students. The Boom Card activities for middle school have been a hit with my students as well. They are just the right length for students with attention issues, however, they are packed with facts and rich vocabulary. The Boom Cards are the Best product on the market for teletherapy. I am so glad to have been introduced to this website almost a year ago. I continue to improve my therapy sessions with the various cards that are available. I’ve been able to switch from a different platform that was very costly, to a platform that gives me flexibility when working with my clients. I can not wait to see what other cards are coming in the future.
One feature I love the most is the ability to have all my cards in a library, where I can categorize by use. As well as when I purchase the cards from Teacher pay Teachers or BVG they all are placed in my Library for easy access. They are great for mixed groups because they target so many different skills such as sequencing, retell, WH questions, story grammar, sentence formulation, vocabulary, grammar, and more. My general education speech students really enjoyed this product! I LOVE that it scaffolds the TEACHING of describing with the 5 senses first then offers parts, what you do with it, etc. So you can use it for younger students who catch on early and older students who need to expand their describing. Practice opportunities and a word list for each kind of describing is present so I even used that list for articulation targets, discussions about adjectives, vocabulary expansion, and phonemic awareness. the visuals were a little intense for my AU students but the rest of my caseload LOVED this resource.
